He is author of several books, including "The New Middle East: Social Protest and Revolution in the Arab World". I should be the Executive Director of such organization. Based on such background of Mr. Fawas, this article should have been addressed with an analytic approach that could have enhanced the causes and effects of the Civil War in Syria and how they are shaping the regional and global responses to local and internal disputes of power. I am really surprised and astonished of the poor quality of this article that has been written by an Academic who is holding the Chair as aforementioned. Mr. Fawas A. Gerges has used descriptive and narrative approaches that are more relying on a cut and paste techniques to develop a fake and parallel pseudo factual enunciation which in reality is based on the processing of previous reporting, descriptive and journalistic presentations of this internal conflict in Syria that has several known and invisible hands and players as well as conditioners of its causes and outcomes. In this article, there is a complete absence of references on the determinations of such conflict that carry and reinforce in the reader a complete amnesic memorization of the reasons and the raison d'Etre of this "regionalized and Arabized" conflict. Only Islamic religion is stated as dividing force among the protagonists of the armed opposition. No mention is made of the interference of European and other Arab countries and their respective interests. Similarly, there is a complete negligence about what is really at stake for Israel and other regional pretensions to the peripheral power such as Turkey. Finally, the efforts of mediation are also not mentioned and all we are left with is the justification of the Obama Administration on their approach toward the rebels. May be Mr. Fawaz A Gerges wants to be rewarded by a high position in form of a sabbatical year in one of these Think-Tanks, or prestigious centers of studies or universities that will command his shallow work. Especially, those who have the reputation to reward individuals that carry simple ideas patronized by pseudo-authorities in the fields of Middle Eastern Studies that in fact are occupying and were given such position in exchange of their tendency to confirm how the reality is transferred through the glasses of TV and now through these mobile devises in accordance to the policies and the national interests of the Chancelleries governing the Western World and their vassals in the regions concerned. As we say in one of these "Arabized" culture, the best way to fry a fish is to fry in its own oil. This adage applied to how these recognized Scholars are feeding detrimentally generations of what could be impartial thinkers. Mr. Fawaz A Gerges thanks also to the sound and spelling of his name that rhyme as one of these Arabs that can fry or bake their own "Baba Ganouj" with its own oil without adding an imported oil. Mr. Fawaz A Gerges "he is Lebanese-American" which remind us of Fouad Ajami with his fabulous phrase at every intervention on Iraq at various the US TV shows, he will always remind us that "We as American", and it seems that is the case also for Mr. Fawaz A Gerges, Despite the passing of time, we are in fact witnessing a cloning process of thoughts and lyrics that reproduce and reinforce a trend of disinformation of Arab realities. Fouad Ajami and today Fawaz A. Gerges in this article on Syria, both of them despite the time and location changes, they were and are still given and have bestowed on them the privilege to command effectively a legitimate quick-fix development made of simple ideas wrapped in well produced frame of presentation such here in Al Jazeera but in reality and at the end of the day, their interventions remained biased presentations of important events. Despite the change of the field of application of their respective presentation, both Fouad Ajami and now Fawas A. Gerges have a similar and complementary objectives which are to neutralize all the creativity and the fundamental factors on which can be build the acceptance and the integration of analytic elements that can contribute to revolutionize our conceptualization of the notion of power here and elsewhere and liberate our thoughts from forced, violated and submissive intellectual expressions such as theirs.. Fouad Ajami and Fawaz A Gerges, they are not holders of Scholar Chairs, but are two musical chairs who are dancing to the music of the sirens of the TV framed Western vision of the Middle Eastern world." o End of Said El Mansour Cherkaoui Comment. § digikan Comment on Said El Mansour Cherkaoui • a day ago moroccans/algerians have the worst manners and most distorted logic ever. i have never seen a single moroccan/algerian who was capable of saying anything constructive. your comment can fit for an essay yet you manage to write absolutely nothing. you think you're so smart using words like "arabized". just go and create your own pan berber state already and spare us of your stupidity. o End of digikan Comment. § Said El Mansour Cherkaoui Response of Said El Mansour Cherkaoui on digikan • 15 hours ago: Dear Digikan: Just to make you feel comfortable about the empty word of Arab Nation that is in fact a creation of Western Thinkers and is a colonial derivative that was imposed as an appellation for geopolitical aims and regional resources exploitation. In reality, we as Muslim, we do not speak about Nation or nationalities, we designate ourselves as Ouma, which has been deleted and diluted by the acceptance of the Arab Elites and Tribal Rulers of the ideology of the British Expansionism which aimed first the dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire. The collaboration of some Arab leaders of that time have effectively helped to make Islam just another cult and not a religious believes connecting various and diverse ethnics. Nationality and Nation State were then promoted to create an alternative and an rallying cry of freedom for hypocrites who fought their own Muslim Brothers and their own Tribes to advance the design of the British Empire. Not only Historical Archives at the London British Museum, the Archives of Foreign Office and their correspondence, the French Archives of the Army in the Suburb of Paris as well as Doctorate Thesis in Arbor Michigan and Lille in France and moreover even Hollywood movies are all here to prove the fact that Arab Elites and Tribal Leaders created the reason of the Arab Nation Downfall and this has not to do with being an Arab, Berber or any other ethnically claim or origin. If we were Arabized, we are happy to be such followers but not the reason of our own defeat because we saved ourselves from carrying the historical responsibility in erecting the beginning of the end of the Arab Nation. Our innocence in this radical change of heart have reinforced our legitimacy as the developers of the Arab Culture and Religion in Europe and the Sub-Saharan Africa. We carried the banner of Islam beyond borders of the Arab imagination without having been defeated by any army coming from the East but we accepted Islam as we accepted previous Judaic and Christian religions based on their own merits. We returned the favor by expanding and ruling all Southern Mediterranean-European regions and from North Africa from the Atlantic to the Red Sea as one Ouma, the Fatimides can tell you their own story and Cairo has still traces of such Berber dynasty. Those who believed that they were creating an Arab Nation under the tutelage of the British Navy and armies became effectively the digger of their own destiny and since then have never recover their dignity as a Nation. Digikan, all what you witness actually in the Middle East is the logical consequences of such choice made first by the Sherif Hussein of Mecca and his sons. The Partition of the Great Syria was the logical consequences of such collaboration. I had the chance to have Pierre Rondot as Professor and who really explained all what is here just touched on its first leave of a dense forests of events and counter-events that have effectively ended up by creating the foundations of the Arab disarray in the Middle East and which is still lasting in various forms to our present day. The Arab Elites and Chorfas opened the gate to more conquest and provided the logistics support for the European Imperialistic drive to be completed beyond the borders of the common religious ground. Crusade were conducted by Islamic hordes against their own identical. Digikan, refrain from insulting your own intelligence because we would have love to belong to an Authentic Arab Nation that is based on its own choices and determinations in History making like in its own independent development. We have never refused Arabs but we do not want to be part of National Reverse of Fortune that we are not responsible in its happening and in its present impact on all of us without distinction of regional appurtenance. Digikan, my comment on this article is in fact an attempt to glorify the real Arab Nation in its own cultural, political and social environment and to demonstrate that the writer of this article is effectively continuing what I have described here in this response to you. We still have in many forms and in diverse expressions that occur in the battle fields with weapons like in the arena of ideas and concepts, the predominance of collaborators that are more Royalist than the King because they defend and justify the attacks on Arabs by haranguing on the values of Western interventions. Fawaz Gerges and Fouad Ajami remain the loyal courtesan and courtier of the national ideology fabricated by the Western Chancelleries for the consumption by the Arab and Islamic masses around the world as well as by their own people. Digikan, you got all wrong, go and educate yourself about your own history if you are from such region, otherwise, just observe and realize the weakness of your approach that is effectively the product of the aforementioned description, I hear you and see you as an individual expression of the corruption of the minds by foreign interventions. Digikan: Wake up and stand for your right thinking and understanding.§ §
